SWOT Analysis

Professional SWOT Ltd can help your organisation carry out a SWOT Analysis in connection with any aspect of its operations or management.

What is a SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis is a strategic planning approach used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats involved in a particular project or plan. SWOT involves defining the objective of the project or plan and identifying those internal and external factors that are both favourable and unfavourable to its realisation.

The four considerations are defined as:

  • Strengths: attributes of the organisation favourable to achieving the objective
  • Weaknesses: attributes of the organisation unfavourable to achieving the objective
  • Opportunities: external conditions which could aid achievement of the objective
  • Threats: external conditions which could adversely affect achievement of the objective

Common uses for SWOT Analysis in healthcare organisations include:

  • to assist in preparing a strategic plan
  • as a component of an INK-fix, if this is a strategic goal
  • as a preparation method prior to the introduction of change
  • to identify problems, their consequences and potential solutions
